I love The Selection!!!! It was amazing! The Selection is about a girl whose name is America Singer in a country of the future. In this country there are eight social classes. The Ones are the royal family; the Twos are really rich and are pretty much celebrities; the Threes are pretty high on the chain; the Fours are the middle class; the Fives are artists and low in the social class; the Sixes are the servants and they are poor; the Sevens and the Eights are the lowest and they are homeless, getting jobs wherever they can. America Singer is a Five but she is in love with a Six, which is pretty bad because females rarely marry down. America’s life is going pretty well until the Selection. The Selection is when 35 girls are chosen to court the prince and he will have to choose one to become his wife and queen. America is chosen as one of the 35. She goes to the palace with its rivalries and rebel danger to meet Prince Maxon. Surprisingly he is not as much of a jerk as he seemed to be (he’s stiff not jerkish but still).
The Selection was awesome. It had no paranormal stuff, which the books I usually read have but I still loved it! I didn’t want to put the book down because the main character rocked! She was not a wimp. In the beginning Aspen (the guy from Six that she is in love with) was really sweet but then he was an annoying jerk and then at the end he was ok again. I love how America chooses to understand herself instead of choosing one of the guys that likes her. I love when books have romance but the main character is not just sucked in and the plot is not all about choosing one guy. I ended up liking almost all the characters because they were more or less normal. I would recommend this book to people who like strong female characters and Princess/Prince stories. This book is great and I hope you will enjoy it if you read it!
Thanks for
reading!
